Proposed Construction: The proposed four-lane divided highway between Norfolk and South Sioux City generally follows existing Nebraska Highway 35. A study of two specific alignments for the proposed road has been developed and a recommended alternative has been identified. Much of the new roadway would be located on new alignment, with the use of existing Nebraska 35 alignment as much as practical.

Related Studies: This N-35 Corridor Study was preceded by a November 2000 study, "Northeast Nebraska Corridor Feasibility Studies, Final Report". A draft EIS document was signed by the Federal Highway Administration on Nov. 7, 2007, for this current study.

Right-of-Way: Acquisition of public right-of-way throughout the corridor and control of access to the new highway would be required.

Schedule: No schedule has been set at this time.

Project Cost:   (Estimated) $236 Million of today's dollars for the preferred alternative. This includes the two projects near Norfolk, (Norfolk Northeast and Norfolk Southeast), which are in the final stages of engineering design.
