Proposed Construction: The proposed work in Rulo, Nebraska includes a new Missouri River Bridge located approximatly 650 feet south of the existing bridge, new alignment and concrete pavement on US-159, and the reconstrcution of 1st Street, Rouleau Street and the connection of Commercial Street to Highway 159 via/through Rouleau Street and First Street. Lighting/Signals: The permanent and temporary intersections of US-159/1st Street, 1st Street/Rouleau Street, and Rouleau Street/Commercial Street in Rulo will be lighted. The bridge will contain navigational lighting. Related Studies: A location study was completed in June of 2004. Right of Way: Acquisition of additional highway ROW and construction easements will be required throughout the length of the project. It is anticipated that four houses and two buildings will be aquired. Relocation assistance will be provided for the owners of the four houses. Phasing: Highway 159 will remain open to traffic during the construction process with select access points to cross roads. This will be accomplished through phasing construction of the project. Schedule: This project is included in the State’s five year program. Construction will take approximately two years to complete. Cost: The project is estimated to cost $32,000,000. (2008 dollars).
