Views of Proposed Construction

Proposed Construction : The proposed 2.1 miles of  improvements begin 0.4 miles south of the US 81 & N 121 junction and extends north crossing the Missouri River approximately 1000' upstream of the existing US 81 bridge and ending just south of the intersection of 2nd and Broadway in Yankton, SD. Proposed improvements for this section of US 81 include widening and new roadway construction, and construction of a new bridge over the Missouri River.

Lighting/Signals/Signing: Roadway Lighting will be provided along the entire project beginning at the US 81 & N 121 junction.  This will  include the proposed bridge and the urban section in Yankton, SD.

Right-of-Way: Right-of-way, temporary construction easements, and new controlled access will need to be purchased at various locations along this project.

Phasing: This project will not require any detours. Traffic will be maintained on the existing roadway during construction.

Schedule: The project is scheduled to be let June 22, 2006 and is expected to take 3 years to complete.

Estimated Cost: The current total estimated cost for the project is $23,613,000.
