Lincoln Area
I-80 Bridge Widening Projects
2003 - 2006
  • The first project will be on I-80 from mile marker 398 to 399.6. It will begin October 6, 2003, and be complete in October of 2005.
  • In August of 2004, the next project will begin in the same area. That will widen I-80 to 6 lanes from South US-77 bypass to I-180. This project should be complete in the fall 2006.

During night time hours 9:00 pm to 6:00 am, lane closures may take place. These closures will basically be from just west of Oak Creek to just east of Cornhusker.

Motorists should watch for message signs in the area, and follow detours as listed. Consider the area a Work Zone with delays likely until the project is complete.

Motorists may also check 511 by phone to find current delay information.

Some closing info may not be available until a few hours before it occurs. If closing info is known several days in advance, it will be posted on the News Release page. You can reach it by using the drop down list on the left.

More general information will be posted as the projects develop.

NOTE: Tiger beetles are known to live in this area. We will be taking special efforts to protect them and the saline wet lands. For more information on Tiger Beetles in Nebraska, please check the web link above to a University of Nebraska web site.
