Proposed Construction

Located in Washington County, the project begins at R.P. 13.09 and extends north to R.P. 19.07, ending just south of the roundabout at the intersection of N-133 and U.S. Highway 30.  The project consists of 5.98 miles of new 4-lane divided highway on new horizontal and vertical alignment.  The project includes grading, concrete paving, storm sewers, and culverts.

Related Studies

An environmental analysis, including a noise study, was completed for this project.  It was determined that an Environmental Impact Statement was not required.

Right of Way

New right-of -way with controlled access will be acquired throughout the project length. The project will require the purchase of three residences. Relocation assistance will be provided under State and Federal guidelines.

Phasing

The highway will remain open during most of the project.  Traffic will use the existing two lanes in the first phase while new pavement is constructed.  Traffic will then be shifted to the new pavement to construct the second phase.  Through traffic will be detoured to U.S. Highway 75 (US-75) for approximately four months to construct the north 1.2 miles of N-133.  Access to local residences in the closure area will be maintained.

Schedule

Project will take approximately 2 years to construct.  NDOR will proceed with the design and right-of-way acquisition to prepare this project for construction.  However, due to limited funds, the construction start date is unknown.

Project Cost - in 2009 dollars

Approximately $23,000,000.00
