This project consists of replacing the existing 3-span, 72-ft long concrete slab bridge with a 120-ft single span bridge. There will be steel and concrete alternates with the concrete alternate being an NU-1600. The existing structure is 40-ft wide and the new structure will be 40-ft wide as well. The new bridge will also have a 3-ft grade raise. The bridge will be closed to traffic during construction and traffic will be detoured.
The purpose of this meeting is to discuss Contractor’s access during construction. NDOR has discussed avoiding the 404 application process by building the bridge under phased construction allowing the Contractor to use the existing bridge as a work platform. There are some structural issues that will have to be overcome and we’d like Contractor’s input as to whether this would be a viable and cost-effective solution.
The bridge is located on Hwy 77, approximately 8 miles north of Mead, Ne and 2 miles north of the junction of Hwy 64. We will meet at the bridge site at 2pm on February 5, 2010 weather permitting.
